Appointment and division in the bed - that's what matters
With good care, sage develops a powerful stature after 3 to 4 years. At this time, the herb has leached the soil largely. In order to maintain the vitality, the evergreen subshrubs are now transplanted. On this occasion the multiplication by division, which in the same turn serves the rejuvenation, offers itself. How to do it right:
At the new location, the soil is loosened and enriched with compost. The plant pit has 1.5 times the volume of the root ball. Ideally, add a handful of rock powder or algal lime to the excavation. Plant the sage as deep as it used to and water it.
Share sage in the pot if necessary
If sage grows on the balcony, division will be considered after just 1 to 2 years due to its vigor. At the latest when the roots grow out of the bottom opening, the herb plant is repotted. To be able to continue using the previous bucket, you cut up the root ball and at the same time create more specimens. In these steps it is possible:
Root growth is forced when a plastic bag or transparent hood is placed over the tub for 2-3 weeks. Regular watering is mandatory during this phase to allow the roots to spread quickly.

Ornamental sage (Salvia nemorosa) is a wonderful bee and butterfly pasture in the cottage garden. If you have a pruning close to the ground after the first flowering, the enchanting perennial unfolds after 5 to 7 weeks.
