How can I build a slide myself?
A private playground in the garden is certainly a pleasure for the children, probably for the artisan father. A particular challenge is the construction of a slide that works well and is safe.
Where can I get the needed material?
You can build a slide according to your handicraft and / or your preferences with the help of a kit or so to speak freely. In any case, however, you should strictly adhere to the construction manual and observe all safety regulations.
Most material for the construction of a slide, such as slats, beams, turn-in sleeves and screws, you get in a well-stocked hardware store. Maybe there is also a kit available. The sliding surface can be found as a module on the Internet. You have the choice between a straight surface, a wave chute or even a slide with curve (s).
Can I combine the slide with other play equipment?
Rarely is a slide alone in the garden, mostly several playground equipment, such as sandpit or swing, or even a whole playground built. Of course, you can also build a combined device such as a climbing tower with integrated slide. The combination with one or more swings is possible.
Keep in mind, however, that combined playground equipment will generally be larger and more exposed to stress. Therefore, such devices must be particularly well anchored. It is recommended in this case, the concreting of the posts or impact sleeves.
Which tools do I need?
If you have purchased a kit for the planned slide, then you may only need a well-stocked toolbox. All wooden parts should already have been cut to size and perhaps the wood was also pre-drilled in the right places.
If you have purchased posts and battens by the meter, you should shorten them to the right length with a suitable saw. If many parts are to be sawn, then it may be worth buying a table saw or a miter saw.
An angle measurement is necessary for you to really saw straight, do not rely on your judgment. Even a grinder can be very useful. If necessary, however, the good old sandpaper is enough. However, the work takes much longer.
