For do-it-yourselfers: Build a rose-trap yourself

Rosewood palisades in different shapes, colors and sizes are available in every hardware store. Nevertheless, not always the one in the required size is in stock or so many home improvement attaches importance to build such a trellis itself. This is also feasible for people with the two proverbial left hands, because rose palisades are easy to assemble.

Build wooden frame

Before you start building, you should first consider how big the trellis should actually be. Small rose-tree clasps are first screwed together and then fastened, with larger must first set up the frame and then the grid attached. For larger trellises use two support beams and a crossbeam, whereby the two support beams must be anchored firmly in the earth - otherwise the whole construction can fall over fast, perhaps because the load has become too big by a very extensive climbing rose. These trellises are usually stable enough to be set up freely. With smaller trellises, a frame made of sturdy wooden slats is often sufficient, which can be screwed together in the desired shape (it does not always have to be rectangular!) And fastened directly to the wall. Make sure that the distance between trellis and wall is at least 10, better 20 centimeters.

Craft Pases trellis: made of wood, wire ropes or steel mesh

Once the frame is ready, you can join the trellis. There are several possibilities: An easily made trellis consists for example of a wooden frame and a pared-down in shape and size flattened mild steel mat - you can also cut right in the hardware store and have to attach them at home only on the frame. Another variant is to simply buy different wire ropes and stretch them as a trellis in the frame. However, both components - the structural steel mat and the wire ropes - rust quickly and should therefore be treated preventively. Trellises made of wood, on the other hand, can be made of slats, which are either mounted in the grid pattern or simply as crossbars on the frame. Also the wood should be treated with wood preservatives against decay.

Tips

Not only is the trellis to be built as stably as possible - roses in full foliage and full bloom can reach a very high weight - the posts also have to be firmly anchored in the ground, for example by means of so-called beam shoes and cementing in.
