Too much moisture can be the reason that the rose petals do not work
Rose petals do not open - why is it?
Roses are among the most beautiful flowers in the home garden, which are often cherished and cared for with much love and care. All the more annoying when the hopefully thick buds of the beauties do not want to open. There are various reasons for this.
If the buds do not open, the weather is usually the fault
In particular rose varieties with filled to heavily filled flowers tend to not or not completely open. The cause of this is usually to look in the weather: If it is constantly wet and it rains often, then the outer petals can not dry out and rot gradually. Persistent moisture promotes infestation with gray mold (Botrytis) or powdery mildew, which preferentially attacks young shoots and flower buds. In addition to too much moisture, the cause can also be found in excessive dryness due to a strong, long-lasting heat period.
On the other hand, if the weather is right and your rose shows no signs of illness, it may just be in the wrong place. A conversion often works wonders.
Tips
Roses should never be fertilized at planting, but only when they have established themselves at their new location. Too early fertilization may prevent the opening of the rosebuds.
