Pot roses can usually be hibernated outdoors if they are robust enough. The prerequisites are, of course, that the plants are in correspondingly large vessels and are also carefully packed. If you have the opportunity, you can also bring the flowers in a cool cellar, in the stairwell or in the attic over the winter.
Basement should be light and airy
However, to make sure this project succeeds, the cellar room must not get too warm, because at temperatures above 10 ° C, the roses simply drift out again. Temperatures between 0 and 5 ° C are optimal. In addition, the basement should be bright and have a way to ventilate. When wintering (preferably in the autumn cut) remove the leaves, so the winter light deficiency of the plant does not harm.
Tips
Do not forget to water the rose regularly! Fertilization does not occur and will only start again from about the end of March. At this time, you can also put the rose outdoors again.
