Turf may only be stored for a short time
Storing turf - only for a short time, and only when it has to be!
If you need to go fast, rolling turf is more practical than seeding lawn seeds. Buy, roll out and the green area is ready. But what to do if the roles have already been bought, but rolling out is not immediately feasible? Can turf be stored at all?
Rolling lawn is perishable fresh produce
Even if turf is no longer or not yet connected to the earth, it is still a living area. The grass still has all the claims one awake a plant can have.
Because many of the roll-up needs can no longer be met, the lawn should grow as long as possible and be rolled up when needed.
Lay turf roll immediately
Heat leads to dehydration of the roller turf. Rain, however, causes fast fouling. Both are not only not desirable, but also expensive. Because it may well be that the lawn then only grows badly or is completely useless.
Only if the turf is moved immediately, a satisfactory result is expected. Allow sufficient time and labor for an upcoming laying of turf.
Tips
First complete all ground preparation before you can let roll turfs be delivered. Only then can you be sure that the roll-out can start immediately.
Roll turfs inevitably store
It is ideal if the lawn is laid within a day. But sometimes the transfer is started later than planned, or the duration of the work was simply underestimated. In the meantime, keep the rollers well to keep the turf alive.
As a storage place, look for a shady spot so that the turf does not dry out. The turf must not be covered with plastic sheets that do not allow any air exchange. Again, you can not keep the turf more than two days.
Since rolled-up grass can develop a lot of self-heat inside the roll, it should rather be rolled out and watered on a free surface on very warm days.
Tips
Even if the laying of the turf lasts only a single day, you should keep the delivered rolls shady. Just a few hours in the blazing sun are enough to rob them of valuable strength.
