Attention: The seeds are highly poisonous! You should never leave them unattended if you have pets or children! These can consume the seeds and poison themselves. Even a seed can be deadly to a child. As a precaution you should also wear gloves.

In the fall, harvest time is for the seeds, provided you already have a castor bean plant. The seeds are in the eye-catching capsule fruits. When ripe, the fruits open and you can remove the seeds. Until sowing, they are best kept in a closable container. They are well germinated for about 3 years.
Sow home in spring
From January you can sow castor seeds. If you start sowing so early, you will get really big plants in summer. Usually, castor oil is sown from March to May. By July at the latest, the seeds should be in the soil.
