Quellmoos cleans the water
Quellmoos pond, fast awake and undemanding
In places in the pond, where otherwise, from the planting, nothing really wants to grow, grows Quellmoos without problems. The winter hardy plant fronds are bright green depending on the water quality. Also called Fiebermoos, the shrub lichen was used for a long time as a fever-reducing remedy.
Quellmoos, as a year-round submerged and oxygen-producing plant, can be used in the garden pond for excellent natural pelvic cleaning. The short fronds of the "Fontinalis antipyretica" coat the pelvic floor within a very short time, depending on the water quality. In addition, the otherwise evergreen plant is often used by the fish as a spawning ground.
Quellmoos: the short profile
The claims in the garden pond
Quellmoos is very undemanding and easy to clean. It does not have to be planted, it is simply thrown into the water. It multiplies relatively quickly and will grow in the pond after a few days, as if by itself at some places. Alternatively, Quellmoos can be tied up with its adhesive organs on stones and root and grows on substrates also firmly. Like many other species of moss, it also gets by with little light and easily settles down to a depth of 20 meters.
Maintain swelling moss in the garden pond
The resilient fronds grow even in those places that are not suitable for other aquatic plants due to the low incidence of light. Additional fertilization is not required because Quellmoos has only a very low nutrient requirement. Fertilizers can be carried out in the summer months, which will lead to a particularly rapid propagation of the plants.
How is swelling moss multiplied?
Since the long shoots should be cut back anyway, you can use them with the same for propagation or you simply divide the pads of the plants and re-bind them at the desired locations in the pond.
Tips
If you make the effort and cut back the moss a little more often, the growth of the plants afterwards is particularly dense and very compact.
