Some people find the white peaches tastier, others the yellow ones - all a matter of taste. However, if you try a typical vineyard peach, you will be disappointed at first. Anyone who grows peaches, knows this problem: The ruffling disease sooner or later affects almost every peach tree. The treatment and containment is difficult, which is why planting a peach variety with high resistance recommended. Although these peach tree varieties are also affected, the consequences are often only marginal. Some old peaches show some resistance to the curling disease, but also special newer varieties.

Furthermore, peaches are differentiated according to their ripening time, with the main season for the sweet fruits being mainly in August. The later a peach matures, the less suitable it is for northern locations. Vineyard peaches, for example, are ripe for consumption from mid-September and would not mature north of the wine-growing climate. In addition, the later the variety matures, the easier it is to dissolve the pulp from the stone. Many late maturing varieties also bloom very early. The earliest varieties in turn include the old American peach variety Amsden, which can already be harvested from the end of July.

Pea-sweet peach varieties

If you want to grow a small peach tree out of a seed kernel yourself, you should choose better grape varieties for this purpose.
