Multiply peach tree by refining
Peach trees can be propagated in different ways. It is quite easy to propagate cuttings, but it is also possible to grow from seed kernels. Mostly, however, peaches are propagated by refinement.

In a refinement, a so-called Edelreis - d. H. a young shoot - taken from a perennial tree and grafted onto another shoot. The lower shoot is referred to as a "base" and should only form roots and trunk. From the precious rice, the actual tree is created, which also forms the fruits. However, documents and Edelreiser can not be freely connected with each other, but should preferably belong to the same or a related kind.
Why is it refined?
There are many reasons for refinement. In the case of peaches, however, this measure is intended to achieve a higher resistance to cold, unfavorable soil and locations as well as diseases. Refined peaches can z. B. also thrive on heavy soils, if their pad (in this case a plum) prefers such soils. Another reason is the increase in yield, because refined woods produce more fruits.
To win the precious rice at the right time
Edelreiser are usually won in the winter break or in midsummer. One year old, healthy and mature shoots are taken, which have at least the thickness of a pencil.
Spring finishing
Remove the Reiser in December or January and store in a damp, cold shawl until further use. The grafting happens then in the spring.

Cut fully matured shoots together with the flower buds from the tree and graft them directly onto the pad.

Tips & Tricks
Work with clean hands and germ-free tools. The use of disposable gloves is appropriate. Otherwise, it can lead to a fungal infection and the ennobled sap thereby die off.
