If the parsley does not want to grow
Many gardeners complain that the parsley just does not grow at them. The seeds do not germinate or very slowly, the plant takes care of itself or even enters. For parsley to thrive, it needs a good location and proper care.
Why does not the parsley grow?
Find the right location
The most important thing when planting parsley is the right location. He must not be dark or direct in the sun.
The crop rotation has a special meaning. Parsley is highly incompatible with itself and other umbelliferae. On the parsley bed, you must not have bred other umbelliferae for at least three years, or even better for four years.
Soil has too few nutrients
On a leached soil parsley can not thrive. Enrich it with ripe compost, horn shavings or horn meal before planting.
Occasionally give organic fertilizer, which should never be fresh.
Prevent waterlogging
Parsley is particularly sensitive to waterlogging.
Loosen the soil deeply before planting and remove all soil thickening. This allows the rainwater or irrigation water to drain better.
Mushroom spores and soil organisms lurk in the ground
Often parsley is sick because it is infested with soil pests and lice or because fungal spores are bothering it. You can tell by the white spots and coverings on the leaves. Here usually only helps cutting or removing the plant.
Maintain parsley properly
In most cases, the parsley is kept too moist. Pour sparingly and only when the soil surface is dry. However, the plant must not completely dry out.
With parsley in the pot, you make for large drain holes and change the earth, if the plant does not want to thrive.
Set the parsley pot lightly but not directly behind a pane of glass.
Tips & Tricks
Since parsley is often so unwholesome and less vigorous, you should sow a lot of parsley. In larger gardens it may be worthwhile to grow parsley in several places. This increases the likelihood that you will find a really good location.
