Parsley diseases occur in unfavorable locations
Actually, the parsley is a pretty sturdy herb that needs little care. However, parsley is also a true diva among the herbs. It only thrives if you plant it in a favorable location. Then you can also do little harm to diseases.
The most common parsley diseases
When the leaves of the parsley turn yellow, the gardener speaks of the parsley disease. This is a generic term that includes various diseases.
Symptoms are not always unique
Taking care of the parsley in the garden or in the pot on the balcony, does not grow properly, gets yellow leaves and eventually dies.
Hobby gardeners experience these diseases very often. Not always the cause can be clarified clearly. For sure, however, you can assume that a poor location and care will favor diseases of all kinds.
If the parsley is in a place where it feels good, diseases almost never occur.
Rotting roots and leaves
Nematodes, maggots and mushrooms bring parsley to rot. But that can only be clarified by examining the soil. In most cases wrong casting is responsible for dying anyway.
To prevent the occurrence of decaying diseases, choose a good location for the parsley. It may not be grown on beds on which other umbellifer have been found in the last three years.
The soil must be very loose so that rainwater and irrigation water do not accumulate. You have to be very careful when casting. Anything that is too little or too much can foul the plant.
Mildew on parsley
Mildew is caused by a fungus whose spores settle on the leaves and cause a grayish deposit there.
The reason is usually that the parsley is too dense and thus provides ideal conditions for the spread of the fungus.
Mildew occurs particularly strongly when the leaves are permanently moist. Therefore, only water the parsley from below.
Tips & Tricks
If the parsley infested in the garden or on the balcony of an illness, it usually makes sense to rip the plant and dispose of it in the household waste. Re-sowing and planting in a suitable place are the best measures against parsley diseases.
