If you are looking for a special ornamental plant, the passion flower with its beautiful, depending on the variety up to 18 centimeters large flowers just right for you. Passion flowers are available in many colors, with the blue and red blooming species in particular enjoying great popularity. The flowers have a striking radiate ring, which is surrounded by ten bracts ring. In the middle, the five stamens and three scars stick out like a column. The single flower usually only shows its splendor for one to two days before it fades - for this the plant usually develops very many flowers, which it shows over several months. With a little luck, fruit (seeds that are not edible in most species) will develop seeds.
Tips & Tricks
Passiflora can be used easily from home-grown seeds. You can also use the seeds of purchased passion fruit or grenadilla - both are members of the passion flower family.
