Melon for dogs - compatible or not?
In dogs it is the same as in humans, not everyone tolerates food the same. Melons are tolerated to some extent for dogs mostly, but should be preferred because of the lower sugar content to ripe watermelons.
First, test small quantities
If your dog has never had melons before, you should first test feeding with a very small amount. It could well be that the dog gets diarrhea by eating melons. Nevertheless, with tolerability melons with their high water content can not only be a midsummer thirst quencher for dogs, but also contribute to the health of the animal with the following nutrients:

Even in animal parks, melons are fed to various species as a change on the menu and as a thirst quencher. However, when buying melons, be sure to either feed the dog out of the hand with the melon or remove the skin before feeding the melon. Watermelons are often treated to special substances that could be detrimental to dog health for better durability during transport.
Tips & Tricks
Puree some watermelon without seeds and fill the mass into an ice cube. So you get a refreshing and affordable thirst quencher, which you can share as dog-friendly ice cream with your four-legged friends. But not all dogs like (ice cream) cold food or some do not like it very much. Therefore, carefully test whether your dog gets the homemade melon ice or if you prefer to give it to the melon at room temperature.
