With a little luck, the lupine blooms twice a year
Ornamental lupins kept in the garden or pot have a prime flowering season. A second flowering time can be achieved if the flowered inflorescences are always cut off immediately.
The main flowering time of the lupine
The first flowers open at the end of May, when the weather is quite warm and the sun shines frequently. The flowering continues into August.
If you remove all faded parts continuously, the lupine often blooms a second time. With a little luck, new inflorescences will appear continuously until autumn.
In addition, by cutting, you prevent the ripening of seeds, which is poisonous in ornamental lupins.
Tips & Tricks
The flowers of the lupine open from bottom to top. While the upper inflorescences are still closed, the lower ones can already turn brown. Pluck out these single flowers to slightly increase the flowering time of the single flowers.
