Admittedly: When buying pulled plants you never know where you are. Therefore, it is advisable to take the propagation in your own hands. That makes many gardeners fun and additionally money is saved. But how is the best way to increase the lovage?
Increase by means of seeds
Lovage can be multiplied with its mature seeds. Either you buy the seeds or you take an already existing lovage plant and wait until it has formed its fruits and seeds after flowering in midsummer.
As a rule, the seeds are mature in September. So sowing (possible from April to August in the field):
If the grown plants have reached a size of about 15 cm, they can be planted carefree. The location should be sunny to partially shaded. In addition, a deep and nutrient-rich soil is significant.
Multiply by division
While sowing requires patience, the propagation method of dividing the plant is faster. In addition, this method is simpler and less time consuming.
