The visually striking, aged inflorescences sit in the turmeric plant on a pseudo trunk, which is formed from the leaf sheaths of the green leaves. For the propagation and cultivation of the plants, the flowers are not very relevant, since the splitting and planting of bulbous rhizomes is the simpler variant of propagation. The actual flowers are relatively unremarkable in saffron root. The more visually dominant part of the flowers, which emerge in different colors depending on the variety, consists of colored bracts that tower above the actual flowers.

Turmeric usually blooms in the summer months June to August when planting in the garden with propulsion in the house from spring.
