Crocuses are mildly toxic - be careful in cats
Cats love bitter plant parts. Crocuses are therefore not entirely safe for them, because the flower threads and the onions are very bitter. They contain a toxin that cats can seriously poison.
Keep crocuses inaccessible to cats
In the house you should better not care for crocuses, if cats and other pets belong to the household.
Both the crocus bulbs and the spermatozoa contain picrococin, which can cause stomach discomfort or even severe poisoning in cats and other pets.
If you do not want to give up crocuses, set pots out of reach. When planting crocuses in the garden, make sure the cat does not dig up the tubers and nibble at them.

If the cat has eaten crocus onions or consumed flower threads, you should introduce the animal to the veterinarian for safety's sake.
