Creeping Günsel flowers in early summer
The crawling Günsel, which is very common in the wild as well as in gardens, is not only an attractive, fast-growing ground cover with pretty (usually blue) blossoms, but also an almost forgotten medicinal plant. The up to 30 centimeters high becoming shrub flowers very long.
Flowering time between April and June
The creeping Günsel has a very long flowering period and shows usually between the end of April and June / July - depending on the weather and cutting measures into the August - into its distinctive floral decoration. While the foliage remains flat on the ground, arranged in Scheinquirlen blooms are up to 25 centimeters high awake inflorescences.

If you want to use the creeping Günsel as a medicinal plant, so you can collect the whole plant (except for the roots) during flowering. Traditionally, Günsel is collected between May and June, preferably at new moon and before sunrise, because then the plant should be able to develop their healing powers only really. Above all, stems, flowers and leaves are used, which can be dried hanging in a warm, airy and dark place.
Tips
The creeping Günsel can easily be confused with the equally edible Gundermann.
