Cress tolerates no frost and thrives best at temperatures from 15 degrees upwards. It grows particularly well in a sunny spot. But even in the shade you can easily grow cress. It only takes a little longer.
On which substrate does cress grow best?
The substrate must be well moisturized and give the roots a hold. Cress grows on normal garden soil just as well as on cotton wool, tempo handkerchiefs, kitchen crepe or peat tablets.
When is the best time for sowing?
Cress can be sowed outdoors from May to September. In the house, the cultivation is even possible throughout the year.
The first sowing of cress in the garden is possible from mid-May and can be continued until the temperatures drop too high.
What planting distance do you have to keep in the garden?
If you are planting a cress bed in the garden, keep a row distance of 15 centimeters. In a row do not separate cress. If it's too dense, simply harvest surplus plants.
You can also grow cress on a wide area between other vegetables.
