For gardeners without a garden: compost in the bucket!
Even if you do not have a garden, you do not have to do without composting your kitchen waste. The solution is compost in the bucket. There are simple variants for the balcony as well as more sophisticated method that you can even use in the kitchen.

In the bucket you drill down a few holes, so that the compost gets air. The bucket is placed on the wooden slats or pallet for better ventilation.

Elaborate but effective: Bokashi bucket
Bokashi comes from Japanese and means "fermented soil". This version is complex and expensive, but can also be easily done in the kitchen. The Bokashi bucket is a hermetically sealed bin with a drain at the bottom. It is best to buy two tons, so that in the first of the old compost can ferment to the end.
The bucket is filled with waste from the kitchen, which was previously chopped. Suitable are vegetable dishes, raw vegetable and Obstreste, coffee grounds and the like.
The mixture is dusted with rock flour and then weighted and covered with a plastic bag filled with sand or water. The lid is sealed airtight. Over the drain cock, the resulting liquid must be poured off regularly.
When is the compost ready in the bucket?
After several months you should put compost in another container so that the lower layers come up.
Depending on the material, the compost takes about a year to use as a fertilizer for your plants.
Tips
During composting in the Bokashi bucket, when used correctly, neither odors nor pest infestation will occur. By bucket method it comes to light odors and occasional fly infestation. Do not place the bucket directly next to doors or windows.
