Which earth does the coconut tree need?
The coconut palm is a popular but demanding houseplant. In special palm soil and in the ideal location with lots of heat, water and light, it thrives well. So it can grow up to two or three feet tall.
Coconut palms need a lot of water, but do not tolerate waterlogging. Therefore, they need a permeable soil. Compacted soil without drainage does not get them at all. Better is a mixture of earth, sand and gravel, expanded clay or lava granules. Alternatively, take palm soil from specialist retailers.

Does the coconut palm need fertilizer?
A young coconut palm should be fertilized regularly every 14 days. For this, commercial green plant fertilizer is diluted in half, because the young plant does not yet need the full dose. After about three years, the palm gets once a month fertilizer in normal concentration.
