Remove annoying clover from the garden

In many gardens, stocks of white and red clover settle by themselves. However, the clover plants in the lawn can not only disturb for visual reasons: after all, the flowers attract bees and bumblebees, by the barefoot walking in the garden for children and adults can be dangerous.

The clover as a pointer plant

While some gardeners cultivate the clover in the garden quite specifically as a substitute for the lawn, other excessively overgrown clover stains in the lawn are annoying. If the grasses in the lawn are gradually displaced by relatively dark and reddish shamrocks, it is usually the red sorrel. This should ideally be outdated soon after emergence, as it can proliferate itself after self-seed flower formation. Again, the supply of lime may be useful to promote the growth of blades of grass and at the same time to slow the clover in its growth. If you do not have your own scarifier, you can usually borrow it from either a neighbor or a garden center daily.

The right fertilizer choice helps against clover in the lawn

If your lawn is suffering from infestation with weeds such as red clover, choosing the right fertilizer can help you permanently kill unwanted clover plants. In particular, in a procedure without chemistry you should put horn shavings as a biological long-term fertilizer. This fertilizer contains little phosphate and allows the grass blades to "grow" more strongly against the spread of the clover.

If you want to combat the clover in your lawn naturally and without chemicals, then you can cover the area with an opaque film. After a few weeks, the light hungry clover goes under the tarpaulin, so you can get rid of it permanently. Although the grass suffers from this treatment, it is generally better able to recover from the "shadow cure" compared to clover. However, if the lawn is almost entirely made of clover, you may also consider accepting the clover as a lawn replacement.

So you can eliminate the clover in the lawn without chemicals, you must not mow the lawn too short and too often. Short-cut lawns dry out more easily in the summer heat, with the clover often tolerating dryness better than the grass. Also, the increased supply of light allows the clover to grow even more in a short-cut lawn, so that the destruction is even more difficult due to the greater spread.
