How to overwinter kiwi?
The foliage of the summer green kiwi shrub turns yellow in late autumn and gradually falls off. After the fruits have been removed, the kiwi plant will hibernate until spring and may need some winter protection.

Kiwis planted in a protected location are well protected from frost damage. Nevertheless, especially in the case of young kiwi shrubs, it is advisable to cover the soil at the roots with mulch, leaves or brushwood in winter. If the shrubs are planted in early summer, they have better chances to hibernate.
Over wintering the container plant
The young shrubs planted in the fall should be winter protected or overwinter in the first year as a tub plant in a frost-free, dark room. Later it becomes more difficult, as the winding shrubs can grow up to 10 meters high.
