Why your kiwis do not bear fruit
The kiwi plants are dioecious. Only from the flowers of the female plants can fruits develop. But only if there is a male plant nearby that is needed for fertilization.
Kiwi smoke is a dioecious plant. To reap fruit, you have to plant one male and one female kiwi next to each other. The distance between them should not exceed four meters. A male plant is able to fertilize six to nine female shrubs. The monoecious varieties, which combine male and female flowers on one plant, do not need another pollinator, however, the dealers themselves recommend to plant a female and a male kiwi for the safe yield.
How to recognize male and female plants
In early May, the first flower buds appear on the two-year-old shoots, which develop into white-yellow, fragrant flowers about four weeks later. On the flowers you can tell if you own a male or a female kiwi. The female flowers have a white stylus that is in the middle of the yellow stamens. The male flowers, however, have no style.

Even if the fertilization conditions are adhered to, it may happen that the fruits and often also the first flowers take their time. In the case of the grafted plants, it is expected that the flowers and fruits will form around the 3rd or 4th year. The plants grown from cuttings or seeds may take 10 years or more.
