Right harvest time for kiwis
Kiwi or Chinese gooseberry is harvested immature in the temperate climates after the first light frost, stored cold and brought to the heat for a few days with an apple for consumption for consumption for several days.
The harvest takes place in our latitudes from late October to early November. The fruits must not be harvested too early, otherwise they stay sour. In the growing countries around the world, the harvest begins at different times:
At harvest the hairy, brown fruits are still hard. They must ripen for a few weeks in cool storage until they are ready for consumption. In order to develop full aroma, they must then be brought into the heat where they soften after a few days.
Tips & Tricks
Do not be afraid of occasional night frosts! These do not harm the fruits. The longer lasting on the bush kiwis taste better.
