Grow cherry tree from a core - the way is the goal
Probably every hobby gardener has ever wondered if you could breed a cherry tree from the very core of the delicious cherry that you just ate, which bears the same delicious fruit.
What you should know about the propagation of the fruit trees
Basically, it is conceivable to breed a cherry tree from a cherry stone. Whether this tree will bear the same fruits as it reacts to fungal attack and whether an early or late variety develops from the nucleus is more than uncertain.
In order to avoid this risk, the cherry trees are increased in practice by refining. On a rooted tree part ("pad" called) another tree part (called "Edelreis") is grafted. The sweet rice is cut from a cherry tree whose characteristics you would like to receive.
To make cherry kernels germinate
In order to germinate the cherry pits, you have to subject them - as in nature - to a cold treatment. For this purpose, one buries several pits in the garden in late autumn and lets them hibernate in the ground. Another possibility is to store the cherry pits in containers with wet gravel or sand cool, but frost-free. Both should cause the shell to soften at the end of winter so that the seeds can germinate. The seedlings are isolated and planted in a seedbed.
If this method seems to be too lengthy, try to turn the harvested cherry kernels so carefully that their interior remains intact. The seeds, which have been liberated from the hard outer shell, are put in a little water for a few days (preferably in the fridge) and the seedlings are planted outdoors in spring. However, there is no certainty that the cherry pits will actually germinate, so as a precaution take several pits.
Tips & Tricks
Sex is always a risk to plants. Such a tree pulled out of the cherry-stone is a child of two parents; both equip it with their genes. Due to the division of the chromosomes and the new combination one knows - similar to human children - simply never what comes out.
