It is important in principle that not all young shoots are cut off, as apple trees preferably bear fruit on two-year branches. In addition, a light and well-ventilated treetop with loose construction should be the top priority in shaping the tree.

Many hobby gardeners are grateful for every inch of growth in young apple trees, which, for example, a seedling pulled from a core has managed. A properly performed cut does not mean a step backwards in the development of an apple tree, but on the contrary stimulates the formation of new shoots.
