A blood-red juice, in which a lot of essential oils stuck, flows from the leaves and flowers of St. John's wort, when pressed. But not only these plant parts are interesting. Even the seeds can be of value. But what do they look like and what can they be used for?
When are the seeds ripe and ready to be collected?
First, the flowering period ends, which usually lasts from the end of June to August. In late summer, the berry-like fruits ripen. Mostly they are mature towards the end of September / beginning of October.
In autumn, the fruits can be harvested. Then it is advisable to dry the fruits in the air. When dry, the seeds are easy to remove. The seeds are useful for the propagation of St. John's wort.

The seeds contained in the berry-like fruits do not look very spectacular. Here are their features:

There are no more common uses than sowing for the seeds. Usually, sowing is straightforward and successful. If you want to sow the seeds, you should start this either immediately after the maturity of the seeds or only in spring.
It is ideal to sow the seeds in spring from about March and until April. Later sowings in the course of the year delay the flowering period to the next year. This should be known about sowing:

Since the seeds are quite tiny, it is advisable to mix them with some sand before sowing and only spread out wide-bred.
