The hydrangea bends - how to support?
Hydrangeas are impressive for their abundance of flowers and form incomparably large, magnificent flower umbels. If it rains, they are literally soaked in water and often become too heavy for the branches that threaten to break. Support the plant properly to preserve the beauty of the hydrangea.
Which plant supports are there?
Targeted columns help the hydrangea to the necessary stability, without negatively affecting the garden picture. The following possibilities have proved successful:
bamboo sticks
Insert several bamboo sticks pyramid-shaped into the ground around the hydrangea about forty centimeters apart. The length depends on the size of the plant. This construction offers a lot of stability if you attach an additional horizontal connection in the middle. Through this framework, you can give the hydrangea with wire, staples or a special tongs the necessary support.

If you only want to stabilize one or two flowers, a single stick is sufficient. Insert the stick directly next to the flowering branch into the ground and fix it. The usually green rods are not very noticeable due to the dense foliage of the hydrangea.

In the trade, you get special slightly curved perennials, of which you can combine several and put them around the hydrangea in the ground. In the upper third of the vertical bars of these brackets are horizontally reinforced and thus give the hydrangea in wet conditions the necessary support. Planted in the right location, which should be as sheltered from the wind as possible and shady to partially shaded, the hydrangea often does not require additional stubble. A good protection against too much rain are large trees, under which the hydrangea feels very well.
