Raised beds can be built from many materials
Many raised beds are completed in a classic way with a wooden border. Basically, you have the choice between many different materials, because it is not the wood that makes the raised bed - but its height and the filling. A traditionally filled compost bed offers a whole range of benefits, from the higher temperature in the bed to the nutrient supply. But whether the bed box is made of wood, stone or metal is incidental and entirely up to your ideas.
Wood
A raised bed with a border made of wood should be carefully lined with waterproof foil or fleece to separate the always moist Beetfüllung from the wood and thus to prevent it from decay. Usually wood slats are used for the raised bed construction, but it is also Palisaden, planks, whole logs or thick branches, hazelnut or wicker willow branches.

Stone raised beds can also be dressed very well, for example with wood.
plastic
A plastic raised bed is perfect for the balcony or the terrace due to its low weight. However, there are also large raised bed frames made of plastic for the garden, which remain very durable and good against wind and weather. However, they are not particularly ecological.
metal
A particular eye-catcher is always a raised bed with a border of metal - especially if this has an age-patina. For example, raised beds made of Corten steel are very tasteful and exceedingly durable.
Tips
If you want to rebuild a raised bed, you do not necessarily have to buy the necessary materials. Upcycling is the magic word or, in good German: make old again! You can create awesome raised bed borders from a variety of basic materials.
