Hemp palms are easy to propagate through seeds
To pull off offshoots of hemp palm
Hemp palms can not be propagated vegetatively. New offshoots are only available if you sow seeds of the hemp palm. But you need to be patient until you get an offshoot for planting in the garden. How to draw offshoots of hemp palm trees.
Harvest seed for offshoot
If you cultivate several hemp palms, there is a good chance that you can harvest your own seed for offshoots. They each require a female and a male plant. You can distinguish these from the flower colors. In contrast to the male, the female plant has light green flowers that look rather sparse.
Only when both sexes flower, can a fertilization take place. The care in the room does not work out. Even outside it is safer if you take the fertilization yourself. To do this, use a brush to stroke several times over male and female flowers.
In the inflorescences then form the seeds that allow you to dry before you can sow them.
So you sow hemp palms
Prepare seed pots with seed soil for the seeds. Place the seeds in lukewarm water for at least one day to allow them to steep. You can easily roughen them with some sandpaper.
The seeds are sown about one centimeter deep. Place the plant pots in a warm, bright place and keep the substrate moist.
The further care of the offshoot
Once the offshoots have reached a height of ten centimeters, plant them in slightly larger pots and nurture them like adult hemp palms.
You must winter hemp palm trees in the tub for the first three to four years. Only when the offshoots are strong enough, they survive frost. Then you can plant them directly in the garden.
Tips
At least four years go by until a seed of hemp palm has grown from a seed. It takes up to a year to germinate the seed. The young cannabis palm needs another three years to grow into a robust offshoot.
