Gundermann is not poisonous, but a medicinal herb
Like many medicinal plants that are native to our latitudes, the Gundermann is not poisonous either. It is recommended for many naturopathic purposes and can also be used raw in the kitchen. Animals should, however, be kept away from Gundermann.
Gundermann is not toxic to humans
There is no danger of poisoning for humans if they eat the herb called Gundelrebe or use it externally as a medicinal plant.
Gundermann contains:
Animals can become poisoned by the saponins contained in the flowers and leaves. They should therefore not be kept in meadows or lawns with Gundermann.
Tips
For many gardeners Gundermann counts with its pretty small flowers to the weeds. This is because the plant spreads and robs other plants of light and nutrients. The fight is not easy and requires a lot of patience.
