1. Ensure drainage
The drainage is the nuts and bolts of a good flower pot, even if it has the shape of rubber boots. Now you may think that you do not pour too much and therefore do not need drainage. But ... you do not want to put your boots in the apartment, right? It rains outside and the rainwater must be able to drain, otherwise the plants rot because of waterlogging.
Therefore grab the cordless drill and use it to drill several holes in the shoe sole of your rubber boots.
2. Optional: painting
Rubber boots are waterproof by nature, that's what they are for. Therefore, the paint is less used to protect it from moisture but has a decorative purpose. If you like colorful or shabby chic, you can paint your boots nicely.
First roughen the smooth surface all around, so that the paint also holds. Now you can either paint the rubber boots in one color or spray a white background color and then shade it with other colors to create a shabby effect.
3. Fill boots
Fill the boots one third with pebbles. These provide stability and good drainage. Then place another third of garden soil in the boot.
4. Put plants
Now put the plants in the boots and fill the open space with earth. Make sure that there is at least two centimeters of casting space between the rubber boot rim and the ground.
