The rubber tree (lat. Ficus elastica) is a rather frugal houseplant, which does not require any special care. If you pay attention to just a few basic things, you will surely enjoy your decorative rubber tree for a long time.
Commercially available potting soil is sufficient for the rubber tree, it should be rather nutrient poor. If necessary, you can mix some sand or fine pebbles under the ground. Immediately after repotting, you will have to give up fertilizer for several months. Place the plant in a bright warm place.
