Unfortunately, most varieties of the goji berry, like the wild form of the common wolfberry, are relatively susceptible to infestation with fungal diseases such as mildew. Therefore, if it is not possible to avoid resistant varieties from the outset, a countermeasure of powdery mildew should be provided by a combination of care and control measures.

As a matter of principle, plant species susceptible to powdery mildew should not be planted too close to each other and cut regularly so that good ventilation of all plant parts is ensured. But while the downy mildew is favored by permanently damp conditions, powdery mildew can spread especially well on dry and warm days. Affected plant parts should be removed and disposed of as quickly as possible, this measure can sometimes be well combined with an already existing pruning.
