Awake gladioli prematurely by deliberately bringing forward
Since the gladioli onions are susceptible to frost, they must be dug up in the fall and wintered in a frost-free room. If the storage conditions in winter quarters are too warm, the first shoot tips appear in March and the gladioli are sprouting. If you want a particularly early flowering gladiolus, you can take advantage of this and drive the gladioli targeted.
Driving gladioli in the pot
You can start planting gladioli for pots in the field in March. Since the bulbs do not stay in the planters throughout the summer, you do not need very large pots. It is sufficient if the onion and the sprouting roots find enough space.

It is recommended to plant the gladioli sorted by variety and flower color and to label accordingly. This is necessary, so that you later have free space for planting out and can put the gladioli according to their color in the bed where they fit color.
Place the pots in a warm and bright place. Here the gladioli sprout after a few days and shoot upright.

The driven gladioli should be carefully accustomed to the changed conditions in the field. Whenever possible, place the pots in a sheltered, sunny spot on the patio whenever the temperature allows, but bring them to the house overnight. Only when no frosts threaten after the ice saint, the gladioli may be put into their summer place in the bed.
Tips
Note that the gladioli begin to hatch in March or April should you prefer the bulbs. It is too early to be put into the field because the gladioli are very sensitive to late frosts. However, if the onions simply keep drifting in the winter camp, the shoots become entangled and there is a risk of fungal infections if the humidity is appropriate.
