The juggler flower is not a single plant species, but a whole genus. So there are many different juggler flowers. Some of them are one year old, others, however, perennial and thus more or less hardy.
It is best to inquire at the time of purchase whether your juggler flower is a one- or perennial species. The common Yellow Juggler flower is annual and proliferates by self-sowing. You still have many years to enjoy this decorative plant, without having to plant it every year.
Which location is suitable for the juggler flower?
Most species of the juggler flower like it moist. Their original location is often at forest edges or near rivers. Some even tolerate wet feet quite well. Thus, some juggler flowers are ideal for the planting of ponds or their edges.
They tolerate sun or partial shade and are relatively undemanding provided they get enough moisture. Good neighbors are, for example, marsh forget-me-not or marsh marigolds that like a similar location.
When does the juggler flower bloom?
As different as the individual species is the flowering time of these plants. Most varieties, as well as the yellow juggler flower until September. In contrast, the small species Mumulus primuloides has a relatively short flowering period from May to July. It only gets about 5 cm high. The also quite small variety Mimulus moschatus even blooms until November.
One-year-old species can often stimulate a second flowering by pruning immediately after flowering. Allow the seeds to ripen, then the juggler flower often sows itself. You can easily plant the young plantlets in another location.
