Building garden swing yourself - this is how it works in 4 steps
In the child-friendly garden, the swing is part of the basic equipment. For the gardener with craftsmanship, it is a matter of honor to build the garden swing itself. This guide explains how to do it in 4 steps.
Step 1: Preparatory work and material list
First, lift 4 holes with a depth of 50 cm, arranged in square form at a distance of 200 cm from each other. Then fill in each hole with 20 cm of fine-grained grit. The following material is required for further work:
Step 2: Build the frame for the garden swing
The 4 round bars with a length of 300 cm are put together in such a way that 2 cross each other at a height of 250 cm. At this point you attach through-going threaded bolts for fixation, secured with washer and nut. Each of the two V-shaped constructions is stabilized with a 150 cm long round bar, which you screw on both sides with threaded bolts, washers and nuts. Proceed as follows:
You fix the crossbar with threaded bolts, washers and nuts on the beams of the side parts.
Step 3: Set up the swing
Fill in the holes filled with chippings up to a few centimeters below the upper edge of the concrete. In this position the two V-shaped sides of the swing frame and align them precisely. Only after the concrete has hardened do you undertake the fourth step of the assembly work.
Step 4: Attach swing seat
On the hardened concrete fill the holes completely with grit. Now you can hook in the ready-made swing seat. Before the swinging fun begins for your children, put the stability of the entire construction to a test of endurance and first swing yourself.
Tips
The ideal location for a garden swing is at least 3 meters away from walls, trees, fences and other obstacles. So that children do not run in the heat of the fight in front of a rocking playmates, sandbox and playhouse should be in even greater distance. Important is a soft ground, such as sand or grass, so that small break pilots fall soft.
