Help - my fig tree has yellow leaves
If the leaves of the fig tree suddenly turn yellow and fall off, this could have different causes. In question is a virus or iron deficiency. For both triggers is partly responsible for too much wetness, on which the fig is very sensitive.
The fig mosaic virus
In the case of infestation with this virus, first yellow leaf spots appear, as the disease progresses, the entire leaf turns yellow. The attractive lobe of the leaves shows malformations. The virus often occurs in figs, which are exposed to stress in wet and cool summers or too abundant watering. Reduce the casting volume if possible and avoid waterlogging in the future.
Leaf waste due to deficiency symptoms
Common cause of the yellowing of the leaves is a lack of nutrients, primarily iron deficiency. This is caused by waterlogging, soil compaction or a small planter. Turn the fig into fresh, loose soil and reduce the watering. It is sufficient to water the plant when the substrate feels dry on top. Always pour off excess water in the coaster.
