When does the harvest of currants begin?
Currants take their name in honor of St. John's Day, June 24th. At this time, depending on the weather conditions, the first berries are ready for harvest. The main harvest time begins, however, depending on the variety only in July.

White and red currants are usually ripe a few days earlier than black currants.
At the end of June you can pick the first berries. Until August, new currants continue to grow.

Currants ripen very irregularly. You therefore need to harvest fresh berries several times a week.
Tips & Tricks
Do not leave ripe redcurrants on the bush for too long. Overripe berries lose a lot of aroma. If too many fruits are ripe, freeze them. Currants can not be stored for long.
