Stick EPDM pond liner - this is how it works
Anyone who decides instead of a film made of PVC for one made of EPDM, has to do a lot of different things when laying and above all when gluing. Find out where the differences lie and how to glue EPDM film in our article.
Differences between PVC and EPDM
In many cases, the choice will fall on a PVC film - simply because it is the most widespread, and is mainly used in the professional field of GaLa farmers. EPDM film, however, is superior in its properties to PVC film in some respects:
So here's a lot for the EPDM film. Especially for ponds with fish stocks or for swimming ponds, it is also the ideal solution.
Glue EPDM
In many cases you do not have to glue EPDM film at all. Seamless installations are possible up to an area of 930 m². This is made possible by particularly large tarpaulins that can be used. Also in the trade, roll widths of up to 15 m are often not uncommon, the length of the webs is up to 61 m.
If you have to glue the film after all, or if you have to weld individual sheets, you can do that with EPDM film using a seam tape, Both sides of the overlap (at least 15 cm wide) are prepared first.
Then the tape is inserted and the edges are pressed together. This is relatively easy and problem-free. As an alternative to this standard solution, it is also possible to use a special adhesive, which is less frequently used in practice.
Preparation of the adhesive surfaces
The preparation of the adhesive surfaces is very important in this case. If not worked carefully here, the connection suffers.
The surface must be pretreated with a primer and a scratching sponge. This will make the surface receptive to the adhesive.
Tips
In most cases, you will be able to save yourself from sticking by simply using a large enough piece of a large web.
