Causes of brown spots on the leaves
Dryness is a very common problem. Ivy likes it rather wet than dry. Therefore, water the ivy regularly, but make sure that no waterlogging occurs. With very dry air in the room, spraying with water can be helpful.
Not all ivy species are absolutely hardy. Frost damage is also noticeable by brown spots. Therefore, do not pull hardy varieties better in the pot, which you can better overwinter.

If only brown spots appear on the leaves, without which the entire leaf discolors, it is probably the focal blotch. It is triggered by fungal spores.

In ivy, which is kept as a houseplant, brown spots on the leaves occur in a pest infestation. These may be spider mites or scale insects. Look at the undersides of the leaves, the pests are usually visible to the naked eye.
Cut off infected parts of plants. Then treat the plant with a solution of water, lye and alcohol. In case of heavy infestation use commercially available sprays.
To prevent it, make sure that the humidity is not too low. Never place ivy next to or over warm heaters.
Tips
Ivy prefers a shady to partially shaded location. He can tolerate direct sunlight only by the hour. Especially direct midday sun can cause the leaves to turn brown because they burn.
