The aloe vera has been used for centuries as a medicinal plant
Aloe vera is called Real Aloe
The name "Aloe vera" is familiar to most people today. "Vera" in Latin means "true", the name stands for the true aloe. Other lesser known names include Aloe barbadensis Miller, Aloe vulgaris, Aloe chinensis.
The name "aloe vera" is in common usage for the entire genus aloe. However, this consists of several hundred species, which include different-looking ornamental, useful and medicinal plants. With the exception of the genuine aloe (also Aloe barbadensis Miller) the wild awake aloes belong to protected kinds.
Origin and History
Aloe vera was already used in ancient times as a medicinal plant. Her leaves have been used mainly for skin care and for the treatment of skin diseases. Nowadays, aloe vera is omnipresent as part of many cosmetic products, but also on the ingredient lists of various foods.
Aloe vera is a robust and frugal plant due to its origin in the desert regions of Africa. The growing areas range from Europe to Africa and Asia to Central America. In Germany, the frost-sensitive aloe vera is cultivated as a houseplant for the sunny location.

Care and propagation
Aloe vera can be cultivated year round at a normal room temperature. Important is a bright location and permeable soil. The leaf succulents need little water and hardly any fertilizer. The regular repot into the fresh earth and a summer stay outdoors are good for the heat-loving plant. From the age of about three years, the plants form offshoots that can be used for propagation.
Tips
The regular harvesting of the leaves has two uses. On the one hand, the resulting gel can be used for skin and hair care. On the other hand you rejuvenate the aloe plant by cutting off the outer leaves. New leaves grow from the middle of the plant.
