The Echeveria needs little water
Echeveria pour only sparingly
The Echeveria is a thick-leafed plant. It stores fluid in its fleshy leaves. Therefore the plant copes very well with longer dry periods. On the other hand, too much wetness is harmful. How do you properly pour echeveria?
Echeveria sparingly and pour from below
Echeveria do not tolerate too much moisture at all. Always water the plant when the substrate is almost completely dry. The dry phases stimulate the coloring of the leaf rosettes. In addition, you prevent plant from rotting too much moisture.
Always pour an Echeveria from below. Only apply enough water to make the substrate just wet.
The Echeveria tolerates low-lime tap water quite well. It is better if you use rainwater for casting.
Tips
Avoid watering the leaves of the slightly poisonous Echeveria when watering them. This creates unsightly stains. With too much water, the leaves even rot.
