The home of the triple flower is South America. There are predominantly warm temperatures. Drilling flowers are therefore not hardy, but must be wintered frost-free. What you have to keep in mind when wintering.

A good place to spend the wintering flower

For the winter you need enough space. If the plant is very large and wide, you can cut them before you put them in winter quarters.

All places are suitable where the triple flower is cool, frost-free and as bright as possible:

Temperatures should be between three and twelve degrees. Slowly get the triplet flower accustomed to the cooler environment. Cooling forces the plant to shut down its metabolism. It then gets by with less light.

Take care when watering and fertilizing

During the winter, do not water the truffle flower moderately. The drier it is kept during the winter, the greater the abundance of flowers next year. The root ball should just just be moist. Waterlogging is the biggest problem during the winter. Casting takes place only when the surface of the substrate has dried out. Excess irrigation water must be dumped immediately.

If the bougainvillea is cool, it gets no fertilizer in winter. If you need to hibernate it in a warmer place, give it some liquid fertilizer once a month.

Due to lack of light, the triplet flower loses most of its leaves in a cool location. But that is no reason to worry.

Tips

You can also winterize a trumpet flower in the house in warm temperatures, if you have no other option. The bougainvillea then retains all the leaves. However, there is a risk that it flowers little or no flowering thereafter.
