The triangular spurge can be best propagated through cuttings
The triangular spurge replicate itself
With its exotic, cactus-like appearance, the three-spined wolf milk (Euphorbia trigona) is a very common and popular houseplant. Under optimal conditions of location and care, this not hardy euphorbia species can reach quite considerable proportions.
Combine cutting and multiplication in a targeted manner
The triangular spurge is a plant species where regular pruning is not essential for healthy plant growth. Nevertheless, the cutting off of certain plant parts may be useful to effectively limit the height growth of an Euphorbia trigona. The cut may also provide for a stronger branching of the otherwise often tightly columnar wakeful plant. Before each cut you should be aware, however, that the cuts on an Euphorbia trigona remain visible like scars and consciously apply them. In addition, the cutting material can be wonderfully uncomplicated for the usual propagation of Kopfstecklinge use.
Tips for the procedure when cutting the cuttings
The following things are important when cutting the cuttings and it is important to note:
While in many other plant species a very rapid introduction of the cuttings in the intended for the rooting planting substrate is appropriate, freshly cut cuttings of Euphorbia trigona should first be able to dry in a shady and evenly temperate place for a few days. If this is not observed, it can quickly lead to the formation of rot at the interfaces of the cuttings. In addition, the substrate should be as dry as possible and more sandy than loamy in the propagation of this species.
Better dry than too wet
Basically root cuttings of the Euphorbia trigona roost under suitable conditions relatively quickly and easily. However, the planters with the cuttings should be kept relatively dry during the first weeks and not watered too often. The three-edged milkweed is in the cuttings propagation quite well for the warm and rather dry windowsill, where other plant species could be rooted only partially successful.
Tips
As substrate for the cultivation of the cuttings you can either use ready-made cactus or succulent earth from the specialized trade, or mix a loose soil with sand and gravel parts.
