Freshly roasted cashews are a special treat

Just delicious - roast cashews

Cashew kernels are next to the cashew apples the second fruit of the cashew tree. They are hidden in the hard cashew nut and must be harvested by hand. With us, the delicious kernels are available all year round in the supermarket. You can enhance your creamy taste by roasting.

Roast cashews at home

For roasting the kernels there are two possibilities. First, you can roast the cashews in the oven and the other in the pan on the electric stove. Both variants work perfectly if you keep an eye on the seeds so they do not turn brown.

Roasting in the pan

Heat your frying pan without oil. Once the ground is hot, put in the cashews. Roast the kernels, turning them constantly so they do not burn. As soon as you start to get dark, you need to turn more frequently. The cores are ready when they reach the desired degree of browning. Let the kernels cool down.
The cashew kernels can be consumed immediately after roasting.

Roasting in the oven

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Take a baking sheet, lay it out with baking paper and spread the seeds on it. Put the tin in the hot oven for about twenty minutes. Apply the cores at frequent intervals with a spatula. The cores should get a nice tan, but do not burn. Once the cashews are well browned, remove the sheet from the oven and allow the kernels to cool.

Refine roasted cashews

The kernels, which are not eaten immediately, can be stored well in a glass with a screw cap. If you want, you can also spice up the seeds a bit. Put some walnut oil in each jar, fill in the seeds and shake well. The surface of the cores should be oily. Now add your spices. Half a teaspoon of spice is enough for a small glass, and you can refine large jars with seeds with a teaspoon of your favorite spice. Shake the seeds well in the jar to spread the spice.
