The beautiful calla flowers quite a long time
The colored flowers of Calla are actually bracts
Many flower lovers mistakenly believe the calla leaves are the flower. That is only partially correct. The flower of Calla consists of a bract that encloses the actual inflorescence, a piston.
Composition of calla flowers
The Calla (Zantedeschia) belongs to the family of the arum family. This can already be recognized by the typical shape of the blossom.
They consist of a flask containing the seeds, and thus the actual flower. The piston can be very inconspicuous. In many varieties, especially the white species, it stands out from the bracts and shows a striking yellow, green or brown.
The bracts have depending on the Calla variety on white, yellow, pink, red, dark purple or almost black colors.
Long-lasting flowers
Calla flowers are quite durable. At a convenient location, they last up to six weeks.
Calla blooming in summer lasts longer if you plant the onions in the field or keep them in the tub on the terrace.
In the vase, Calla lasts up to three weeks if cut at the right time. As a cut flower, the calla must also be well maintained.
Calla flowers can not be conserved
Calla is very popular for bridal bouquets because of the beautiful colors and the striking flower shape. However, it must be remembered that Calla can not be dried or preserved in any other way. If you want to keep your bouquet for eternity, you should choose other flowers.
