Collect beechnuts for delicious dishes in the kitchen

Bucheckern are dreikantige nuts, which come from the red beech.
They are recognizable by the spiked shell in which the triangular nuts are found. These are covered by a brown skin and white inside.

The best time to collect beechnuts
Beech trees drop their corners in September and can easily be picked up. Only trees older than 40 years are developing fruit.
Beech trees only bear an abundant harvest every five to seven years. In the years in between, they produce only small quantities.
Since many of the fruits are dumb nuts, so they contain no seeds, you need many candies if you want to bake cakes or plan to plant a beech.

Since beechnuts are mildly toxic, you must roast the fruits or brew with hot water. This will neutralize the toxins fagin and hydrocyanic acid. You can then eat the nuts safely.
